Water in March! 2016

The Water in March! 2016 two-day events were performed with great success. The events were organized by the Technological Educational Institute of Epirus in cooperation with the Chamber of Arta, the municipality of Nikolaos Skoufas, the Decentralized Administration of Epirus?Western Macedonia, the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece (Branch of Epirus and Islands) and the National Observatory of Athens.

The first one took place on March 22 (World Water Day 2016) and included Environmental Education and weather station installation at the Elementary school of the village Neochori of Arta city. In this event schoolchildren had the opportunity to discuss about the water usages and the value of meteorological data in agricultural activities.

The second event was held on March 23 (World Meteorological Day 2016) at the building of the Chamber of Arta and it was a round table titled "The kiwifruit cultivation in Arta, Efficient irrigation practices - The usage of a web based irrigation data and recommendations system (IRMA_sys)". This event was focused on the irrigation of kiwifruit orchards.

Also, the IRMA_sys application for the plain of Arta (Epirus, Greece) was presented. More than 200 people attended the interesting exchange of views at the round table, regarding the efficient management of irrigation at the kiwifruit cultivation.

The event had live broadcasting through Youtube channel. Water in March events were sponsored by the local professionals and the big companies: COMPO HELLAS, PROTYPON, KoliosFRUIT ΑΕΒΕ, Palaplast ΑΕ and ScientAct SA. The media sponsor was the big publishing company Agrotypos.
